Diana Strasburger just returned from a 2 week medical volunteer trip to San Raymundo, Guatemala. She went with Refuge international, a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of families and individuals through collaborative development of sustainable programs in areas where
healthcare, adequate nutrition, clean water and education are lacking or non-existent.

 

 

Congratulations to Dr. David Barouins for his 2nd place finish at ICEP's Academic Assembly resident research competition this week. His presentation was on Therapeutic Hypothermia use in a Community Emergency Department- An Update.    

 

The interview  season for our residency starts Nov 14th! Thank you to all our Residency Selection Committee participants, and to all our faculty who give up their offices for interview use. Residents, don't forget to sign up for interviews with Rose.

 

For the 5th consecutive time, our residency has acheived a 5 year accreditation from the ACGME!

 

Congratulations to all our residents who've tied the knot this year. Best wishes for many happy years to come to Alissa Gottesman, Beau Willison, and Janna Hoffman!

 

Elise Lovell was faculty at ACEP's Scientific Assmebly in San Francisco where she helped teach a cadaveric procedure lab.

 

Cindy Chan was accepted as one of ICEP's  Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) fellow.  There are 5 fellows for this inaugural, 2011-2012 academic year.  The goal of the ICEP LEAD program is to provide young emergency physicians practicing in Illinois the opportunity to study under ICEP leaders to prepare them for future leadership roles in ICEP and emergency medicine

 

Brian Fort had an amazing time in this October's Chicago Marathon- 2:52! Shannon Lovett, Elise Lovell, Sam Lam, and Diana Strasburger also finished strong. Congrats to first time finishers Sam Lam and Diana Strasburger.

 

Sam Lam, Diana Strasburger, and Cindy Chan have all obtained RDMS accreditation in the past six months. Congrats!
